"Hey, can you help a brutha out?"

Arrow, our middle aged dachshund was recently caught using her back right toenail as a crochet hook. She does nice work but I detest the colors.

Here is actual footage of Arrow, the crocheting dog. Enjoy!

Picture Day in Bellevue!

They bustled in elbow to elbow, staring into their digital LCD's to get a glimpse and photo of the newly sealed couple. Jessica and Travis Hatch were sealed last Saturday in Bellevue Washington's "Seattle Temple." This event was much anticipated and well attended as people traveled to Bellevue from exotic places like: Shelley, Hailey, Ruston and Spanaway.
Attendees: Becka Rigby, Becka's brother-in-law, Thomas Hatch, Travis Hatch, Jessica Hatch, Jessica's Mom, Ruth Hope and Amber Hope

Jessica and Travis: Jessica's simple smile radiates happiness and joy from the sacred event. Travis smiles and under his breath asks, "Where is Old Country Buffet?"

The Original Hope Family minus Bombadil

Look at these lovely women! They must look like their father! These are my three oldest daughters: Jessica, Elise and Amber. And of course everyone knows Thomas. Even though we have 4 more children that live at home with us, these girls are the reason why we sit with our head in our hands and stare at our shoelaces. Because we miss them! What stands out in this picture? I'd say Ambers Dr. Seuss Socks!

Here is the original Hope daughter with her sweet puppy. Elise is an awesome young lady and we were so happy to have her first all those years ago. Elise had the perfect demeanor for a big sister. She was strong and bossy and wouldn't let anybody get away with anything. She even beat up a kid that was picking on Brent! Tough girl. Her toughness is only surpassed by her exquisite beauty (OK, Ok, she looks like her mom, not me). Elise has always looked out for the underdog in the group. If there was someone without a friend, Elise is there to be that friend! She is an accomplished musician and with her sisters has played at every major Hope function. She married a Steve McQueen clone named Brett Reagan and he is crazy awesome. I can't say too much about him though because he works for the government as a secret agent or something like that (I think I remembered that right).

Winter is Fading!

It has been very nice to experience a real winter! For the last 10 years our winters were spent in Seattle where for the most part there isn't any snow. To experience sledding in Washington we were required to drive to Snoqualmie, Crystal or Leavenworth. These trips would take an hour or two to get to. Here, the longest part of going on a sledding trip is getting everyone loaded up in the car! This picture above shows Penny, Brent, Jake and Sarah at our favorite sledding hill, Rotarun (I might also use this picture as their first CD/Album cover).
Rotarun is a mini ski hill with a dopplemyer platter lift for skiers and snowboarders. Rotarun in operated by the Rotary Club here in town and is only open on the weekends for skiing. During the week it is vacant and sledders are allowed all over the hill. It is a 5 minute drive from our house in Hailey. We come here frequently and usually bring guests when they arrive in town to visit us. We have also brought Cookie our dog here and she loves it! We have enjoyed it immensely!

You are looking at the new Hailey 2nd Ward
Chili Cook-off Champion
Her secret recipe, which has never been published, is an exclusive
here at The Daily Item.
The Secret Recipe:
1 40 oz. can red kidney beans
14.5 oz. diced tomatos
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1/2 large onion - chopped
2 cloves garlic - chopped
1 tbls ground chili pepper
1 tbls cumin powder

1.5 lb. of Elk Meat!

Some friends of our gave us some elk hamburger. Ruth wasn't a big fan of it and put it in the chili just to get rid of it. Turns out it provided the X factor in her chili!

Idaho Snowboard!

Brent, Sarah and I went snowboarding today at Dollar Mountain in Sun Valley.
It was Brent and Sarah's first time. They both did exceedingly well although they both admit that it was harder than they thought it would be.
The video above is of my son Brent snowboarding down the hill.
Not bad at all!
